Chhapaak Movie: Review, Cast, Box Office Collection, Budget

Quote:
Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak is all set for a theatrical release in India on January 10. After delivering two acclaimed hits Talvar (2015) and Raazi (2018), Meghna Gulzar explores yet another realistic subject of acid-attack cases in India with Chhapaak and critics might love this one as well, just like her previous two outings. The film is clashing with Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer magnum opus Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior that releases on the same day. The riveting trailer of Chhapaak has already established an emotional connect with the audiences and moviegoers can't wait to watch Deepika's performance on the big screen. With Akshay Kumar's Good Newwz still managing to rake big bucks at the box-office, it would be interesting to see how well does Chhapaak performs despite catering to a very niche audience. Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak Gets ‘U’ Certificate From CBFC, Meghna Gulzar’s Film to Release Without Any Cuts

Deepika Padukone already has Ranveer Singh's 83 next and her last outing Padmaavat turned out to be a blockbuster. Now the question stands that will the 33-year old be able to pull a hit on her shoulders without any A-lister actor in the project? Only time will tell, but as of now there has been much of anticipation for the film and the Bajirao Mastani actress has put in a lot of efforts by attending all the promotional activities on TV shows. Just before you plan to watch Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey film in the theatre near you, here is everything you need to know about Chhapaak. Chhapaak: Vikrant Massey Believes Deepika Padukone Film Will Start Conversation on This Heinous Crime of Acid-Attack

Cast
Chhapaak has Deepika Padukone playing acid-attack survivor Malti. It also stars Vikrant Massey playing Deepika's on-screen love interest Amol. The film also features Madhurjeet Sarghi and Rohit Sukhwami in supporting roles.

Story
Chhapaak draws inspiration from the real-life of the acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal who is all set to star in the film in a guest appearance. Deepika Padukone plays the acid attack survivor Malti and the film showcases her struggle with the society after the horrifying incident. The film also follows the trials and investigation of Malti's acid-attack case and how she discovers the beauty from within and emerges as a true winner by every mean.

Music
The Music of Chhapaak is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy with lyrics written by Gulzar.

Budget
Chhapaak is made on an estimated budget of Rs 35 crores including print and advertising cost. The film needs to cross the Rs 50 crores mark to be called a hit.

Box-office Prediction
Chhapaak would open with good numbers at multiplexes especially in the metro cities of India. The film is not expected to rake big numbers at the box-office but would get a decent opening. LatestLY predicts the first-day collection of Chhapaak to be somewhere around Rs 4 - 4.5 crores. The film would mint Rs 10-12 crores on its opening weekend.

Movie Review
"Chhapaak is a story that deserves to be told and highlights a cause that needs to be heard. Deepika Padukone is in fine form, and the supporting cast also sparkles. If the storytelling and pacing had been stronger, then Chhapaak could have made a bigger splash," our in-house film critic Sreeju Sudhakaran wrote in his review, where he gave the movie two and a half stars out five.
