Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara become a topic of discussion when the movie in question explained about The Untold Story Of Kashmiri Pandits’. However, the internet is trending #BoycottShikara, as people allege that it’s not a documentary but a movie.
A film on Kashmiri Pandits
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara gained criticism after a few people criticized the movie of downplaying the role of terrorism and excusing the issue. The movie was released on Friday.
The film also had a special screening which was organized by Vidhu Vinod Chopra himself at a theatre in Connaught Place, Delhi. The show also had a Kashmiri Pandit woman, who later broke down and attacked the director of marketing their real-life situation.
Soon after the film came to an end, Chopra had stepped out to interact with the audience. The woman who was upset about the movie started shouting at him. The video of the woman lashing out at the director is going viral on twitter.
Disowning Shikara
“The film does not represent the real suffering of the community including the genocide, mass rapes and mass murders committed by terrorists. Congratulations on your commercialism. Being a Kashmiri Pandit, I discard your film, I disown it,” said the woman.
Boycott Shikara trends
Several users on social media began trending #Boycott_Shikara declaring that the film should be avoided for ‘twisting’ the reality.
