Salman Khan’s film
Tubelight might not release around Eid in Pakistan as local filmmakers have opposed the release of the movie , citing better business for the local films scheduled to release at the same time,
bollywoodlife reported.
According to the report, The Pakistan Film Distributors Association and the Pakistan Film Producers Association are actively trying to stall the release of Khan’s movie in Pakistan.
The local filmmakers are concerned that the Indian movie would affect the business of two Pakistani flims:
Yalghar and
Shor Sharaba scheduled to release on Eid this year .
"As Pakistanis, we must support the release of local content first,” said Sohail Khan, The Bollwoodlife.com quoted producer of
Shor Sharaba as saying.
He said he would not release his film in protest if the government doesn’t stop the release of Indian movie on Eid.
The filmmakers intend to hold protest against the release of the movie on the Eid but before that they will urge the government to not give an No Objection Certificate to Salman Khan’s movie, which also feature Chinese actress Zhu Zhu.
Veteran Pakistani actor Mustafa Qureshi has said the government should also give top priority to local projects.
“I have always maintained that there should be a complete ban on Indian films,” he was quoted as saying in the report.
