It Is Time to Ask: When Will Ivanka Trump Tell Us What Her Daddy Really Did to Her?
Trump’s misogyny is legion. There’s another question that runs deeper: What has Trump done to his own daughter Ivanka? Trump’s “locker room banter” has consistently extended to making jokes about his own daughter’s sexuality.
The Republican leadership wants to jump ship now the Trump tapes have him bragging about a criminal “grab pussy” assault on multiple victims. But why was it okay to back Trump when he made his own daughter part of his rape-culture all-in-good-fun “locker room banter?”
The footage released of him bragging about groping and assaulting women is just a start. The real question is who but a sick monster jokes about his own daughter’s sexuality?
In the audio of the video, Trump talked about trying to have sex with a married woman and being able to grab women “by the pussy” because of his fame. In other words he brags about getting away with criminal assault.
Trump has consistently described Ivanka in twisted, filthy ways. He’s cast his own daughter in lewd degrading terms that–seriously–I’ve never heard any other man I know use for his daughter. No one calls talking dirty about your own child “banter.”
The way Trump has talked about his daughter reminds me of the “jokes” I read about related to a child molesting case from the 1990s. It was the so-called Chester the Molester case.
Chester the Molester was a comic strip by Dwaine Tinsley. The case became a media feeding frenzy after Tinsley–a Hustler cartoonist–was arrested for molesting his own daughter.
It turned out that Tinsley had been doing to his child what he’d “joked” about in his cartoons. Call the cartoons “just locker room banter” … about child rape.
At the time reading about the case stuck in my brain like the horror vision I once had of a child hit by a car I’d glimpsed. At the time I had a young son the same size and shape as the little boy hit by the car. I had a young daughter at the time I read about Chester… and so reading about this case “got” to me too.
I’ll never forget that child lying on that street and I never forgot reading about the “Chester” case. To me Trump is a horror, but he transcends horror to monster status when it comes to the “Ivanka question,” as I think of it. I have a daughter Ivanka’s age. This is personal. Ivanka represents all the women Trump’s defamed.
The Chester cartoonist, Tinsley, had produced the cartoon for 13 years. In reports about the case at the time the cartoons were said to depict scenes where children were tricked into sex. These “joke” cartoons were later admitted as evidence in the child-rape trial.
In 1984, Tinsley was first accused of molesting his 13-year-old daughter, Allison. The molesting had gone on for years. His cartoons were it turned out, biographical.
He was convicted and served 23 months of a six-year prison sentence. His conviction was then overturned. The reason: his conviction it was said violated the First Amendment because it was based, in part, on his comic strip. That he was a child rapist was not in question.
Trump likes joking about his daughter. Trump makes lewd comments about his own daughter.
He once posed for a photograph of himself with his daughter on his lap sitting on a statue … of two parrots copulating. Another joke, more “banter.”
Trump gave radio host Howard Stern permission to call his daughter, Ivanka Trump, a “piece of ass.”
This too was “locker room banter” a another “cartoon?” Another joke?
Trump was talking to Stern about his daughter, who was then 23 years old, in a 2004 interview, as CNN reported:
“By the way, your daughter,” Stern said to Trump…
“She’s beautiful,” Trump responded.
“Can I say this? A piece of ass,” Stern asked.
“Yeah,” Trump replied.
Trump told Stern to call his daughter “a piece of ass” the very year before Trump was taped bragging (2005) that he can “grab” women “by the pussy” because he’s a “star” celebrity.
The Stern interview isn’t the only time Trump shared his objectified daughter with the public as a sex object. In 2006, Trump said on ABC’s “The View” that if Ivanka weren’t his daughter, he’d be dating her.
Trump had joked about his baby Tiffany’s legs and breasts in 1994 and his daughter’s potential breast size in another interview.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2015 Trump made the point again this time about Ivanka again: “Yeah,” Trump said, “she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father …”
Which brings up a something that might be called a joke… but isn’t:
What’s the difference between Tony Soprano and Donald Trump?
When Howard Stern asked Trump about Ivanka: “Can I say this [about your daughter]? A piece of ass?”
“Yeah,” Trump replied.
Tony would have killed Stern then and there.
Even mobsters in made-for-TV shows meant to break new ground draw the line… as do real men everywhere. Not Trump the degenerate.
In a 2003 Stern interview, Trump said Ivanka has “got the best body.”
Staffers on the set of “The Apprentice” told The Associated Press Trump often “complimented” women on the set by…
…comparing their sexiness to his daughter.
“He would just mention it all the time,” Rebecca Arndt, a camera assistant for the reality show, told the AP. “I remember him comparing Ivanka to her and saying that only Ivanka was prettier.”
Ivanka Trump has not commented about her father’s comments about her. But the Republican leadership went along with Trump’s Chester-Type “jokes” about his child.
Why?
This article in Psychology Today, (“What Predators’ Wives Really Know–The secret world of child molesters”April 21, 2012) by Deborah Schurman-Kauflin Ph.D, seems to me explain the Republican leader’s silence.
In this world, there are untouchable individuals who actually get sympathy for their atrocious behavior. Like skilled actors, [the people who ignore what they do] … watch for years as the most twisted attacks are carried out right in front of their eyes. Yet they remain silent as does the public that tends to offer a shoulder to cry on rather than a proper investigation into their behavior.
For too long many spouses of child molesters [and or the GOP leadership?] have hidden behind the pretense that they were unaware of the crimes going on in their homes. … The truth is sickening and may be shocking to some readers whereas other readers may have known this all along.
In my years of profiling violent crimes, I have found that in the majority of cases that I studied, the spouses knew about the child molestation which was carried out by their spouses. They knew because either the offenders told them or they witnessed the abuse! Of course the [spouses] never admitted this once an investigation was opened; however, victims have often stated that the wives of their abusers were present when the attacks took place. As the victims called out for help, it was common for the [spouses] to walk away and shut the door behind them.
That’s what the GOP leadership did “As America called out for help, it was common for the GOP leaders to walk away and shut the door behind them…”
Trump has apologized for what he called “locker room banter,” referring to his own comments about criminally assaulting and groping women, but he refuses to drop out of the race despite Republicans calling for him to do so. And, more importantly Trump has yet to apologize to Ivanka publicly for degrading her verbally.
“I’d never withdraw. I’ve never withdrawn in my life,” Trump told The Washington Post. “No, I’m not quitting this race. I have tremendous support…”
Meanwhile I’m wondering Ivanka is a Trump’s accomplice.
These things have a way of coming to the light. As Edmund says in Shakespeare’s King Lear: “The wheel is come full circle.” Someday books will be written about how the GOP became the living embodiment of Chester the Molester.
Meanwhile it is time to put a woman in the White House.
Her name is Hillary. She too–like Ivanka–is also a survivor of Trump’s (and the GOP leadership’s) bottomless Chester the Molester misogyny.
Hillary will make a great president and just by being elected she’ll already have done a great thing: prevented Donald-Chester-the-Molester-Trump from humiliating America as he’s humiliated his daughter… just because he could, given, as Trump said, “When you’re a star they let you do it! You can do anything!”
