Nawwas b. Sim’an al-Ansiri (
) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about righteousness and sin. He said:
“Righteousness is to have good character and sin is what festers in your heart and you hate for people to know about it.”

عَنِ النَّوَّاسِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الْبِرِّ وَالإِثْمِ فَقَالَ “ الْبِرُّ حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ وَالإِثْمُ مَا حَاكَ فِي صَدْرِكَ وَكَرِهْتَ أَنْ يَطَّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ
A look from you is as blinding as the sun
As stunning as your eyes I lose myself in
A look from you is as pure as the clear blue sky
When I'm with you
Every minute I'm not around you
I feel like I left something behind.
Every time I'm not looking at you
I feel like I am blind
