Exclusive poll for ITV News reveals tensions over immigration are more dividing than ever
In the second part of the ITV News series, "Britain: Inside the Divide", Correspondent John Ray reports from Wolverhampton - a city linked to the infamous “Rivers of Blood” speech made in 1968 by its then MP, Enoch Powell.
It exposed deep divisions over race and identity in Britain and some fear the ghosts of Powell’s incendiary speech are resurfacing in the city.
An exclusive poll for ITV News poll has revealed those tensions are dividing the country more than ever.
A survey carried out for us by IPSOS found an overwhelming majority of people believe Britain is split — and many blame immigration. In fact, fifty-nine percent believe the main cause of tension is between people born in the UK and immigrants.
