At least 500 people were killed in an Israeli air attack on the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in the besieged Gaza Strip, Palestine officials said. The death toll was by far the highest of any single incident in Gaza during the current violence as the hospital that treats over 45,000 patients each year was attacked. The health ministry spokesman, Ashraf Al-Qudra, said hundreds were killed and rescue workers were still removing bodies from the rubble. The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said the blast at the hospital was caused by an Israeli airstrike. Israel, however, attributed, the explosion to a misfired rocket launched by the Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ) armed group. Meanwhile, Hundreds of people took to the streets in cities in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and the West Bank, where a police car was targeted following the explosion.
