The caller needs to understand that what is understandable need not be justified. The bhakts' actions are understandable but unjustified. As adults we have to behave responsibly. What bhakts did also falls under free speech however the response was disproportionate, vile and disgusting. Comparing the bhakts' response with Armin's post is like comparing cursing someone with beating someone up. Both are rude but one is clearly worse than the other.
