Shamima Begum, who left the UK at 15 to join ISIS, has been described as a well-behaved detainee by authorities at the Syrian detention facility where she is held.
The director of Roj detention camp, Rashid Omar, praised Begum's decision not to wear the niqab, considering it courageous given the challenges faced in protecting women in the camp.
Roj camp, located in northeast Syria, houses 2,600 detainees, predominantly women from 55 countries, with most either choosing to wear the niqab or being compelled to do so.
Kevin O’Sullivan and Alex Phillips also discussed BBC plans to reduce new TV programming by around 100 hours in the next year, with original dramas and entertainment being affected the most.
The decision, outlined in the corporation's Annual Plan for 2024/25, is down to financial constraints and rising programming costs. Viewers can expect fewer new shows, with the commitment to first-run original drama decreasing by 13% to 350 hours.
