Rishi Sunak has condemned Hamas for an "appalling act of terror" on Israel.
Speaking at Chequers, the Prime Minister said Hamas and the people who support them are responsible "for the murder of civilians and for the kidnapping of innocent people including children".
Then, in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said the UK will stand with Israel "unequivocally" and offered "any support Israel needs", according to a Number 10 spokesperson.
