One of two teenagers suspected of killing three people when they opened fire at San Diego's largest mosque has been identified as a 17-year-old former school wrestler.

The suspects, named as Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Vazquez, 18, were found dead inside a BMW, near the mosque, reportedly with self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Pictures of Clark have now emerged showing off his wrestling medals.

Hate rhetoric was scrawled on the weapons used in the attack, police have said. A shotgun with a sticker that said "SS" was also found near the crime scene. This appears to be a reference to Schutzstaffel, which enforced Adolf Hitler's horror racial policies during Nazi Germany.

The three victims included a dad-of-eight security guard, who was hailed as a hero for "saving lives".
