Sir Keir Starmer has told the nation the future of Greenland "belongs to the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone".
In an address to the nation, the prime minister stressed the relationship with the US matters "profoundly" and he would attempt to find a diplomatic solution, but there was "a principle here that cannot be set aside".
The speech follows threats by Donald Trump to levy 10% tariffs on any European country - including the UK - that opposed the US plans to take control of Greenland.
