Om Raut's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has crossed Rs 100-crore mark in six days. It is expected to cross R 150 crore in the coming week.
Ajay Devgn's 100th film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club on Wednesday. The film, directed by Om Raut, was able to achieve this feat on the 6th day of its release. It is based on the life of Maratha soldier Tanaji Malusare.
Released on January 10, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior opened with Rs 15.10 crore and earned Rs 61.93 crore in three days. On Monday, it earned Rs 13.75 crore. Till Tuesday, it had earned Rs 90.96 crore. On Wednesday, it is expected to earn Rs 12 crore thus reaching the Rs 100-crore mark.
Apart from Ajay Devgn, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior also stars Kajol, Saif Ali Khan and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles. While Kajol plays Savitribai Malusare, wife of Tanaji, Saif Ali Khan played Mughal fortkeeper Udaybhan Rathod and Sharad Kelkar was seen in playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The film received mixed reviews from critics, but is being applauded for its CGI and action. The storytelling is also being appreciated which presents the 17th century Maratha warrior in a superhero film format. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is receiving great response from the audience as is evident by its box office numbers.
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was released with two other films same weekend. Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak and Rajinikanth's Darbar gave tough competition to the period drama. Despite huge competition, Ajay Devgn's film was able to make a mark for itself. The film is leading the other two films released last week.
