ISRO built India's first satellite, Aryabhata, which was launched by the Soviet Union on 19 April 1975.[18] It was named after the mathematician Aryabhata. In 1980, Rohini became the first satellite to be placed in orbit by an Indian-made launch vehicle, SLV-3. ISRO subsequently developed two other rockets: the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) for launching satellites into polar orbits and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) for placing satellites into geostationary orbits. These rockets have launched numerous communications satellites and Earth observation satellites. Satellite navigation systems like GAGAN and IRNSS have been deployed. In January 2014, ISRO used an indigenous cryogenic engine in a GSLV-D5 launch of the GSAT-14.

Sarabhai received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Medal in 1962. The nation honoured him by awarding Padma Bhushan in 1966 and Padma Vibhushan (posthumously) in 1972

Too much poverty in India the money could be well spent elsewhere.. infrastructure or whatever

I think its a good idea

I'm not really into the whole space thing 8-) as human beings we can't even look after this world correctly .. Every country needs to focus on the environment

INDIANS WILL NOT NEED TO RUN TO NASA FOR A JOB...CURRENTLY INDIAN'S WASTE THEIR TALENT WORKING FOR GLOBAL COMPANIES

WHO HAVE THEIR OWN INTERESTS AT HEART...

EVEN STUDENTS WHO COME TO THE U.K...ARE BRAINWASHED INTO THINKING THAT "OXFORD" IS THE PLACE TO BE..

INDIA HAS A RICH HERITAGE, FOOD ...POVERTY ...INFRASTRUCTURE...ALL THESE THINGS HAVE HIGH IMPORTANCE...

IF THE INDIAN SPACE PROGRAM DOES WELL, PEOPLE WILL AUTOMATICALLY FLOCK TO INDIA.....

IT WILL ALSO INSPIRE OTHER INDIANS WITH THE "YES WE CAN, WE ARE NO LESS THAN NASA" .... MOTIVATION...

The British Empire lasted more than 300 years and spanned the globe and still does not have a suitable space program 8-)
