If you clicked on to this part of the site, you must be bored or
curious,
click the picture below to view the old site or get comfy to read the
following below...!

This part of the site should show you how AMC originated in detail, from the
8mb site to its current state.
The whole site would literally fit on about 4/5 floppy disks, not sure what
a floppy disk is? try Google search. .lol.
If you have read the about us
page, you would have noticed that AMC was created in 2002.
The chat room was created on 16th May 2002 on msn chat, the very 1st web site, was
created on yahoo geocities on: Tuesday 1st September 2002.
The chat room was the 1st stepping stone. Soon after the chat room was running
successfully throughout the summer of 2002,
I made my 1st attempt in making a website using the free resources available online
with no prior experiences in web design.
For most professional users, this site may seem basic, but when you start from
nothing, each new idea is a learning curve towards progression.
The site itself has bought many people together from all walks of life with
various experiences. Many of us that have used or started with AMC have learnt new skills which have enabled us
to provide a service in the forms of online entertainment. To the average user,
who browses the internet, this is just another website that they
stubble upon through google...Yet like most decent sites, a lot of work and thought has been
placed here to adopt to growing changes for members.
As for creating the 1st site on geocities, that was my attempt to keep
a record of that summer whilst using chat for the 1st time with thecurrent
and existing members and making use of my time on chat. I noticed and
realised that spending hours online and chatting was not sufficient. I also
wanted to make use of my time more beneficial, rather then just login on and off....So
Putting together those moments, was how it started....but now with
more growing facilities like 'my space', things like
that are much easier now.
Most of the old AMC site was created using material that I had collected
through emails or things which were just sent to me over the months being online, good junk I
liked. Things collected to make a simple site as you now see on my
space by certain users. Most things were also sent by old members
also including links to sites made by them on geocities, again it was a learning curve where we would practise and learn how to make web sites online on a basic level.
Original images such as Sylvester the cat were the basic themes used as
recognition for me at that point, also the main reason I still use Sylvester
as my main avatar on the existing site.
Creating the site on yahoo page builder, was like slotting building bricks,
nothing in comparison to html or php, so it was a huge step....From basic web page slotting at the click of a button, to how it is now.
Originally the forum was created with my permission as a substitute by a ex
member, using AMC themes based on the old site, and my ideas and thoughts were
put into practise creating the 1st layout. If you look through the old site,
you will notice similarities on the forums category structure and the old
layout of the geocities website.
Existing members from the chat room, and original 1st geocitites site, were
all redirected to the new forum which was created on vbulletin, This was
created in February 2003.
It was also agreed that after I learn or when the time would come, I would
be handed over AMC onto my own domain and account etc (which did not happen so smoothly,
but what ever does?!?!)
Greed has a nasty habit of causing a whiplash, with all the work put in,
directing members, posting and creating a friendly atmosphere I was left
without ownership of my own site, the same site which I spent building as a online community.
It could be argued that the original forum did not belong to me, It could
also be argued it was my name and recognition that created it in the first
place eg people joining AMC after appreciating the geocities site and
those that joined the forum due to the chat room, through me.
By November 2003 the official domain www.Asianmassivecrew.com was purchased
and registered.
The start of 2004 caused a uproar, many members were banned ( over 20) the
existing forum was transferred over to me (after a lot of debates and
problems..)....and the journey in maintaining and keeping the site running
without
any maintance or website skills became another issue. At this
point the support from existing members & friends was tremendous.
Since I had no experience in html, php or any web design software usage, it
was a whole new field for me, starting from scratch.
Lucky enough, the entire site has been recreated, vamped to run smoothly,
their have been times when problems have been raised (..problems still do, but
what site doesn't experience any regardless to how skilled or non skilled a
person is?) ...But each problem has been dealt with as my knowledge grew....
I guess many people expected the site to fall apart, but personally speaking
everything I have learnt to do with websites, I have done online bit by bit
over the months and years,
with each failure becoming an new attempt, creating something new and
better.
Soon after the dust settled, I shifted the old AMC site which was hosted for free on
geocities over to the main AMC domain, to keep a copy on here of the work.
The old site has been kept in its original form, nothing has been changed
apart from urls and links since the shift.
I value the old site and its content, since to me its the basis of AMC,
learning to use new software to maintain or to upgrade the forum causes my
knowledge to grow as well as another's, I suppose it would explain why AMC
has a lot of personal flavour added to it by me and few older members which
makes it different from other normal online communities.
Creation of the 1st site was more of a fluke and time pass, I did not expect
the existing site to exist for as long as it has, or the forum to grow
with links to other sites, yet it has.
Many people create online forums and web sites, expecting and going out
their way to build a community, AMC literally did just happen without
expectations. Overall the chat room was created for the summer, just
for the following months, yet it continued with the usage of the site.
The site still has many features and upgrades to go through at this point of
time, even though some parts of it may seem complete.
It has come along way from that tiny 8 mb site to how it is today, I know
most people prefer to hide or to remove old versions of their work, but
personally I like seeing earlier versions of site and
members.
Despite my attempts to keep the site going many existing old members have
provided continuous support in the running of the site, when I have been
busy learning or trying new things, many of them have done the best
to make things run smoothly, I am grateful to know those members who I regard
as close friends.
I think that more or less covers everything now, so have fun looking through the old
site, and see how many old members you can spot that still float
around....!!
